Hip-hop semifinals are over – here are our thoughts

So, the semi-finals are over. Competition stepped up this year, LSU and Memphis were pretty fierce, and Cincinnati was flawless in their execution. The cats are back by 9 points, while only one point separates LSU and Memphis. The top three are: 1. LSU, 2. Memphis, 3. Cincinnati. The team was pretty disappointed by finishing this round third (they were in the same place last year, and won the whole thing). But our feedback from stage right was that LSU and Memphis performed at their best, it did not look like they could do any better, while UC still has room to pump-it-up.

These women are true champions, they strive for nothing but the best, and believe all of us, when we say, they will find a way to win it!

Jazz semi-final performance starts at 7pm tonight, we will update on twitter, follow either @RyanTHart or @MrBearcat for live updates. We will try and digest everything here afterwards.

We are definitely missing the cheer team and the rest of the DC Fanatics this year, we are loud and proud, but it is just not the same.

Nationals 2010

Another year, and another competition. We arrived yesterday and watched the team rehearse both Jazz and Hip-Hop, they looked fantastic. There is really an energy and chemistry within the team that has not been their in previous years. They are really having fun this year. A lot of it is probably related to that they really owned their choreography. Cynthia was telling us that they choreographed their own Jazz routine this year and took Barry’s concept for hip-hop and transformed it into something more personal. Everyone is really excited for competition today. Semi-finals for our division begin at noon and the cats perform at 2pm and 7pm. WE will be there to support with the parents, as well as, OSU, St. Thomas, and a few other friends in the area including some from George Mason.

Whether they win or lose, I think it is going to be a great nationals.

We are back!

Sorry for the delay in the final results – the orignial post did not go through from my phone – Dance – Jazz – 5th | Dance – Hip Hop – 2nd | Cheer – All-girl – 8th | Cheer – Co-ed – did not qualify for finals | DC Fanatics – #1 ||| Overall a great showing from the bearcats – stay tuned for image uploads once we return to the city.

Howdy EveryoneThe co-ed team is finshed for this year – unfortunately they did not make it to the finals for their division – all of us respect the hard work that they put into their routine. Injuries are always tough, and they did an exc excellent job overcoming these.The dance team has an absolutely full day today – they have to perform three (3) times – Jazz twice and hip-hop for the finals. IT is truly going to be exhausting for the girls, because they need to be performing at their full potential. Believe me, this one is going ot be close. They just danced their Jazz routine and we are waiting on the preliminary results. For Hip-hop they are seeded thrid (3rd) and have been working all night to smooth everything out. We will be here the whole day updating you on the status of each competition. Cross your fingers!Go Bearcats! Perform like a champion!-R

Dance Team Jazz Performance Delayed

Hey Everyone – here are the updates for the evening.Firstly — the Dance Team Jazz performance has been delayed, because of the tornado watch in the area.  They will be performing instead at 9am tomorrow morning.As for today’s performances – the All-girls squad made a strong comeback, overcoming team injury, to place in the finals for the All-girls cheer competition (they were #11).  Their performance in the finals, wasn’t flawless, but their composure was pristine and the croud was pumped.  Let’s hope for another high placement.The Dance Team ~rocked~ their hip-hop routine.There is tough competition, but no routine had the difficulty and strength that the bearcats presented.The  co-ed team is set to perform in their semi-finals tonight at 7:50 – if they can nail their routine, we all have great faith in them making finals and competing for a prime spot.As always, look for immediate updates through twitter (MrBearcat)PLAC.; -R 

[Updates] Today’s the Day!

So today’s the day.  The DC Fanatics have a full day ahead of us as we do what we do best – support and defend the Dance Team and Cheerleading squads.Today – All three teams perform – and some of them twice!  We will keep you updated as the action happens – for instant feedback – just follow my Twitter (MrBearcat). An update for the All-girls squad – unfortunately Brandy has injured her hamstring and is unable to participate in the all-girl stunt or competition.  This is a huge loss for the team, but they are doing everything they can to perform without their captain.  The stunt team pulled out from their competition, but the all-girl squad has masterfully adjusted their routine to knock the judges dead again with a flawless performance – they look great. Co-ed has recovered from an injury as well – but the team is optimstic, even with the loss of Brad a few weeks before the competition. The Dance Team’s routines look promising, especially the Hip-hop.  We are all really pumped to stack-up the competition and watch Lisa’s crew do it again! #1 in both categories! Are you excited for the results!?  What are your predictions?  Post a comment on this blog and we’ll see how people feel! (enjoy the photos below) -R 

We are here!

We are on our bus to the hotel – New Mexico and Villanova (sorry about the loss) have joined us on the bus.  For some reason the New Mexico team is singing I’ve got friends in low places.

Mark Wood of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity at the University of Cincinnati was the first to forget to perform like a champion in his packing abilities.  His mistake has been noticed, and unfortunately he will have to make it up later this weekend.

 We are all very excited for the competition – but our first stop the pool bar.  Second stop Disney World!

Support and defend the University of Cincinnati Dance Team and Cheerleading squads as they perform like champions in Orlando, FL.

Everyone is pumped – we have all packed at least 6 Bearcats shirts and miscellaneous support tools – we are listening to ESPN Pump-it-up music, and getting ready for our flight.
